11/22/63 by Stephen King

11/22/63I have never read any Stephen King books before, know precious little about JFK and next-to-nothing about American history and the 1960s (and what I do know comes from the TV show ‘Pan Am’) ….. and yet I really really enjoyed this book.

The time travel element is well done, well researched and as believable as time travel can be. The romance angle is well written and, at times, heartbreaking. All the characters you meet are engaging and interesting and most of all the plot is a real page-turner. The first third of the book is gripping, then things slow down, and then the last third is the race to the finish line: the day of JFK’s assassination, what happened and did it change the future.

All in all I think everyone on my friends list would enjoy reading this. A possible contender for the best novel I read in 2012.
