Two things stopped me from giving a truly unbiased opinion of this book:
1) I’m a classicist.
2) I did what I very seldom do and watched the film before reading the book (it was a couple of years ago that I saw the film so only have vague recollections).
This is a good adventure book based on Classical mythology and the bits of humour and the juxtaposition of the ancient and modern worlds makes it all the more enjoyable. However, I can’t help but wish this book had been around ten years ago though – back then I think I would have been at the optimum age and optimum stage in my classical studies to fully appreciate it.
