Earth’s mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.
So this is the first film in the Marvel Universe that I actually watched a few years ago. I rated it quite highly considering I hadn’t watched any of the other films and missed out on the references I understood this time around.
I grew a bit tired of everyone’s inflated egos and the squabbling. I think that’s why Romanoff and Barton are my favourite characters in the film because they just get on with saving the world rather than arguing over who’s got the coolest costume or super power.
The epic battle at the end was epic and long. Very long.
❥ Natasha Romanoff – I loved the scene where we first see her and Agent Coulson calls her up. I also really enjoyed her history with Agent Barton. I’m sad that doesn’t seem to go anywhere and the writers focus on her relationship with Bruce Banner in the second film.
❥ Love Agent Hill and wish she was given more to do in the film
❥ The ship turning into a plane is pretty cool
❥ Coulson fanboying over Captain America is cute
❥ Pepper Potts appears and reference to Jane’s safety is made but sadly no mention of Betty.
❥ That NYPD police officer is the same guy who plays Peggy’s love interest in Agent Carter!
Bruce Banner: “I don’t think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy’s brain is a bag full of cats, you could smell crazy on him.”
Thor: “Take care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he is my brother.”
Black Widow: “He killed eighty people in two days.”
Thor: “He’s adopted.”
Iron Man: “Let’s do a headcount – Your brother, the demi-god; a super-soldier, a living legend who actually lives up to the legend; a man with breathtaking anger management issues; a couple of master assassins; and *you*, big fella, you’ve managed to piss off every single one of them.”
